The Navy-Marine Corps team is under tremendous pressure to sustain its peace-time presence missions; increase operational readiness; add more ships and develop technologies and concepts of operation to enhance conventional deterrence in the face of increasingly sophisticated threats; and invest in strategic nuclear force upgrades.

Even with an increase in the budget planned for fiscal 2018 and 2019 it still means some tough tradeoffs in the near and far-term.

Laura Criste is a federal market analyst with Bloomberg Government. Criste specializes in cybersecurity, IT budget, and IT modernization. Previously, she was an analyst at ANSER’s homeland security federally funded R&D center. There, she informed homeland security strategy, including the 2014 Quadrennial Homeland Security Review, by examining activities, mandates, budgets, and threats. Cameron Leuthy is a senior budget analyst with Bloomberg Government. Leuthy's expertise includes budget activity, national security policy, and identifying the largest professional services opportunities in the federal market. He has more than 20 years of experience in analyzing budgets and legislation at the Office of Management and Budget, the Department of Defense, and at Booz Allen Hamilton. Robert Levinson

Robert Levinson is a Senior Defense Analyst with Bloomberg Government. He specializes in analyzing DOD spending trends, budget activity, and identifying the largest opportunities being released at the Pentagon. He is a retired lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force with more than 20 years of service. Levinson worked for Booz Allen Hamilton as a strategic communications consultant. He has a bachelor’s degree from the U.S. Air Force Academy, a master’s from the University of California, and is a Harvard Kennedy School for Senior Executives graduate. Follow him @levinsor
