FY19 Defense Budget Breakdown: What to Know
The fiscal 2019 budget request represents the first time that the Trump administration’s priorities are fully reflected, including the new National Defense Strategy.
Bloomberg Government analysts Robert Levinson and Cameron Leuthy will present a webinar on President Trump’s fiscal 2019 defense budget request that provides both a big-picture view and details on the priorities of the individual military services and individual programs – what’s up, what’s down, what’s new.
-About 55 percent of the increases in both the fiscal 2018 and 2019 budgets are expected to be spent on contracts.
-While the Army allocates a larger budget share to personnel and operation & maintenance than other military branches, and less to procurement and research, development, test & evaluation, the Army does spend a greater share of its research dollars on science and technology.
-Fiscal 2018 and 2019 defense appropriations are likely to match the totals agreed to in the Bipartisan Budget Act, although a continuing resolution at the beginning of fiscal 2019 is still probable.
