Graham: Immigration Bill Coming Next Week With or Without Trump

Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham says legislation to address the migrant surge at the U.S. Southwest border will be unveiled next week, “with or without the White House.”

• “I’m tired of waiting,” Graham tells reporters
• Graham says bill to address “everything that’s a magnet for Central America,” including allowing for longer detention times for migrant children traveling in families, which is now capped at 20 days
• The S.C. Republican says he will work with Senate Homeland Security Cmte Chairman Ron Johnson, who is also crafting a bill, and GOP Sen. John Cornyn, who introduced a similar measure dubbed the “Humane Act”
  • The bill, which Cornyn unveiled Thursday along with Democratic Rep. Henry Cuellar, is intended to help “solve the ongoing humanitarian crisis at our southern border by reforming current laws dealing with unaccompanied alien children and migrants taken into custody,” according to statement
