Three information technology and cybersecurity officials covered ground from industry outreach to plans for continued modernization at a Bloomberg Government roundtable discussion last week.
The roundtable followed a presentation by Bloomberg Government analyst Kerry Burgott and Deputy News Director Loren Duggan and a recorded interview between reporter Josh Axelrod and Laura Stanton, the assistant commissioner for the Office of Information Technology Category at the General Services Administration.

- Unclassified DOD contract spending on cloud services surpassed $5.3 billion in fiscal 2022, and the market has resulted in more than $16.5 billion in procurement since the beginning of fiscal 2018.
Monica Langley, deputy chief information officer at the Federal Emergency Management Agency, added comments about the Biden administration’s prioritization of improved customer experience for the public’s interaction with government websites and services.
BGOV on Customer Experience Initiatives
- The Bloomberg Government analyst-defined market for digital services, which includes tools for customer experience, resulted in nearly $8 billion in contract spending governmentwide in fiscal 2022.
- The Biden administration earlier in March announced projects aimed at streamlining interactions with government offices in circumstances like having a child, enrolling children in programs for low-income families, experiencing financial distress, moving from military to civilian life, or nearing retirement.
