Trump Issues ‘America First’ Executive Orders
President Donald Trump spent part of his first day in office unleashing a torrent of executive orders and memos to advance his agenda.
It was one of the most productive first days for a president in recent memory. He repealed nearly 80 Biden-era executive orders and withdrew from the Paris Climate Accords and the World Health Organization, directed federal agencies to end purported government censorship, and ordered government employees to return to in-person work.
An order redefining birthright citizenship has already been challenged in court by the American Civil Liberties Union. Expect other orders, such as Trump’s repeal of a ban on drilling in 625 million acres of US water, to be litigated, as well.
In total, Trump signed more than two dozen executive orders on day one back in the Oval Office, the most since 1937. More are expected to get his signature as he begins to implement key parts of his campaign platform.
