Government contractors doing work with the Department of Defense were able to leverage an increase of $40.5 billion in DOD spending from fiscal 2017 to 2018.

Consistent with recent years, most of the market-moving companies in fiscal 2018 relied on spending in certain categories, such as weapons and ammunition – which increased by 39.5% in fiscal 2018 to $28.8 billion from $20 billion in fiscal 2017 – to either improve or retain their rankings. These top 10 defense contractors have held their ranks over the years by winning large defense contracts.
