Harris Says She Would Ban Imports of AR-15-Style Assault Weapons

(Bloomberg) — Imports of AR-15-style assault weapons would be banned by executive action if Sen. Kamala Harris is elected president.
  • Proposal would also suspend “all other assault weapon imports” until the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms reviews whether they should be permanently banned from entering the country under existing law, Harris’s office says in statement
  • NOTE: Harris’s proposal adds to previous commitment to use executive actions to tighten rules on firearms sales if she’s elected president and Congress fails to act on gun control in her first 100 days in office
