Matt Butler

From 2015 to 2016 Butler served as chief of staff for the Democratic National Convention Committee, overseeing the convention’s communications, political, logistics, arena, technology, and legal departments. In that role, he managed a 300-plus staff to produce one of the most innovative and accessible conventions in the nation’s history. Butler also has worked as deputy campaign manager for the presidential runs of Chris Dodd (2008) and John Kerry (2004), and managed the 2006 reelection campaign of U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell.

Butler has more than two decades of executive leadership experience, including as CEO of Media Matters for America and as principal at the D.C.-based BCT Consulting Group, LLC

As COO of the DC Bar, Matt is  responsible for driving member engagement and value performance; maintaining effective business and operating capabilities; leading strategy design efforts; overseeing expense management, revenue growth, and joint ventures; and directing an extensive portfolio of departments across the Bar.
