Federal Lobbying Spending Reached New High in 2024, Bloomberg Government’s 10th Annual Top-Performing Lobbying Firms Report Finds
Latest report celebrates a decade of influence with in-depth analysis, detailed financial data, and long-term trends.
ARLINGTON, VA —Bloomberg Government hit a milestone last week with the release of its 10th Annual analysis of the top-performing lobbying firms. For the past ten years, Bloomberg Government has provided valuable market intelligence for strategic planning, partnering opportunities, and benchmarking.
This in-depth analysis draws from a decade of data under the Lobbying Disclosure Act and analysis from Bloomberg Government experts, highlighting top-performing firms and forecasting key trends. For the past decade, only Bloomberg Government has delivered the unmatched combination of data and reporting expertise that drives industry insight and decision-making.
The report finds that federal lobbying reached a new high in 2024, topping $4.5 billion. This marks an increase from the previous year’s $4.35 billion and reflects continued industry growth, driven by pressing issues like tax policy, health care, artificial intelligence (AI), and cryptocurrency. This increase outpaced the 2.9% jump in the Consumer Price Index, reflecting a true expansion of overall lobbying income.
The report, based on Bloomberg Government’s analysis of Lobbying Disclosure Act data, focuses on the 394 firms generating $1 million or more in annual revenue. By benchmarking revenue growth, client retention, and average revenue per lobbyist, the study identifies the firms that excelled in Washington’s increasingly dynamic influence ecosystem.
The lobbying firms reporting the most revenue remained unchanged in 2024: Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, tops the list with $67.9 million, followed by Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld, Holland & Knight, and BGR Government Affairs. Rounding out the top 10 are Invariant, Thorn Run Partners, Forbes Tate Partners, Mehlman Consulting, and Cassidy & Associates. The report includes detailed rankings of firms by revenue, highlighting both large and small firms with significant growth over the past decade.
“For ten years, Bloomberg Government’s annual report has stood out as a trusted resource for government affairs professionals seeking to understand the evolving lobbying industry,” said Mike MacKay, Head of Bloomberg Government. “By delivering actionable insights, our platform enables professionals to stay ahead of trends and leverage data-driven tools to succeed in this complex environment.”
Bloomberg Government’s Top-Performing Lobbying Firms Report also highlights legislative trends that contributed to the surge in lobbying revenue, including the impact of policy changes under the Biden administration, regulatory advancements, and ongoing debates around emerging technologies like AI and blockchain.
