Kyle Trygstad Named New Bloomberg Government Elections Team Lead

WASHINGTON, DC (October 29, 2019) — Bloomberg Government today announced that it has named Kyle Trygstad as a news team leader. Trygstad, most recently Editor-in-Chief of National Journal’s Hotline, will report to Bloomberg Government News Director Heather Rothman. Trygstad will lead a team of reporters focused on elections, money in politics, and Congressional leadership. In this position, he will manage all of Bloomberg Government’s content related to the 2020 elections.

“We’re excited to add Kyle Trygstad, an experienced Washington reporter and editor, to this key position on the team responsible for our coverage of 2020,” said Rothman. “Kyle has done extensive reporting on elections and policymakers, and we’re looking forward to bringing that expertise to Bloomberg Government.”

In addition to his work with Hotline, Trygstad has been a contributing editor for Inside Elections LLC. Prior to this, he led editorial planning and editing of Congressional, gubernatorial, and presidential campaign coverage for National Journal Daily. He was deputy campaigns editor and features editor at Roll Call, where he also led the organization’s coverage of Congress as Congress editor. He was Washington correspondent for RealClearPolitics, where he was one of the organizations’ first two reporters in Washington, and was a research associate on the 2008 edition of The Almanac of American Politics. Trygstad is a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Journalism.
