Sunday’s Capitol GainsPreview: Year End Taxes and Spending Cuts

As the U.S. edges towards the fiscal cliff, President Obama and congressional leaders are  aiming to strike a deal to avoid year-end tax increases and spending cuts. On Bloomberg Government’s “Capitol Gains” airing Sunday, Peter Cook talks with Bloomberg’s Director of Congressional Analysis Loren Duggan and Bloomberg News reporter Rich Rubin about the state of the talks and the outlines of a deal.

President Obama’s relationship with Wall Street bankers was strained during his first four years in the White House. One of the industry’s top lobbyists, Financial Services Forum President and CEO Rob Nichols, talks with Peter Cook about the chances for repairing that relationship over the next four years.

“Capitol Gains” also profiles the lone Republican trustee overseeing Medicare and Social Security’s finances. Charles Blahous is a veteran of the Bush administration and a key player in the debate over entitlement reform.

Bloomberg Government’s Capitol Gains airs Sunday mornings at 11:30AM EST on W*USA9 and on Bloomberg Television at 12:00PM EST and 5:00PM EST.
